This Privacy Policy explains how personal information is handled when you use FishPonds.biz or submit a Reader Question.
Who is responsible for your data?
The data controller for FishPonds.biz is Jan Hvizdak.
Privacy enquiries can be sent to: postmaster@aqua-fish.net .
Reader Questions
When you submit a Reader Question, FishPonds.biz receives the name, email address and question that you provide, together with information identifying the article and language from which the question was submitted.
This information is used to review your question, reply where appropriate, and operate the Reader Questions feature. The legal basis for this processing is our legitimate interest in responding to reader enquiries and operating the website.
Your email address is not published. If a question is useful to other readers, the question and an editorial answer may be published on FishPonds.biz. Your full name will not be published unless you have separately agreed to this.
Spam prevention and rate limiting
To protect the Reader Questions form against automated abuse, the server temporarily processes the requesting IP address to create a pseudonymous rate-limit identifier. The raw IP address is not stored in the rate-limit file. These temporary identifiers are automatically deleted after they are no longer needed for rate limiting.
Server logs
Like most websites, the web server may record technical information relating to requests, such as the IP address, requested URL, date and time, and browser information. These records are used for security, troubleshooting and reliable operation of the website and are retained only for as long as required for those purposes.
How long is information retained?
Reader correspondence is retained only for as long as necessary to deal with the enquiry and reasonable follow-up. Information may be retained longer where this is necessary to establish, exercise or defend legal claims.
If a Reader Question is selected for publication, the published question and editorial answer may remain part of the relevant guide. The submitter's email address is not published.
Who receives your information?
Personal information is not sold to advertisers. It may be processed by service providers that are technically necessary to operate the website or email service, where applicable.
Your rights
Depending on the circumstances, you may have rights to request access to your personal data, correction or deletion of your data, restriction of processing, or to object to processing. You may contact us using the privacy email address above.
You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the competent data protection supervisory authority.
Changes to this policy
This policy may be updated when the website or the way personal information is processed changes. The current revision date is shown at the top of this page.
